Prosper Narteh Ogum awarded a long term contract by Otumfuo after Asante Kotoko return

Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has been granted a long-term contract and autonomy by the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The former WAFA had his first stint with the club during the 2021/22 season where he led the side to win the Premier League title.

However, he left the club following a disagreement with the then-Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management.

Following his reappointment and unveiling on Monday, August 7, 2023, Ogum’s association with Kotoko has been further solidified by a long-term deal during a visit to the Manhyia Palace to meet Otumfuo.

“I have instructed the IMC to grant Ogum the autonomy to select his own players. I have also conveyed to him that if he independently chooses his players and faces unsuccessful outcomes, I will personally take the responsibility to remove him. However, if his player selections thrive without interference, then he can be here for more than 20 years to work,” stated Otumfuo.

Ogum’s mandate, as assigned by Otumfuo, extends beyond the immediate term, focusing on nurturing a formidable team capable of excelling both in domestic and international competitions in the years ahead.

Guided by this visionary directive, Ogum will join forces with Coach David Ocloo and Wilson Burton Asare, his deputy coaches.

Asante Kotoko will open pre-season today ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors will open their season with a home game against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium.
