Schalke expect Leon Goretzka to make decision on his future soon

Schalke's Matija Nastasic talks just how his side were able to earn a draw after being 4-0 down to Borussia Dortmund.

Schalke expect Leon Goretzka to make a decision on his future in the next couple of weeks, CEO Christian Heidel has told reporters.

With just over six months left on his current deal, the Germany international midfielder has been linked with clubs including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Earlier this week, reports said Schalke had offered him an annual salary of €12 million including bonuses to remain at the Veltins Arena.

And speaking to reporters on Thursday, Royal Blues CEO Heidel said: "It appears that other clubs are also interested, and they would certainly not like to wait [for a decision] until June 29.

"We've not set him a date. But it'll automatically come down to a decision being made in the winter. I don't know whether that will be on Dec. 17 or Jan. 2."

Heidel said he remained in contact with Goretzka's agent, Jorg Neubauer, but despite "an open and honest relationship" admitted: "I don't know whether Leon will stay or not."
